It’s 2012 already and I must show you early enough my top ten businesses I think you can start this year. The year is still fresh… so this is the best time to start your own online business if you must never be broke again this year.
Many thousands of people are making money online. You might have friends or family members who make a living with a home-based Internet business already. The problem is that not everyone WILL make money online, because making money on the internet takes a long time to learn, and most people give up because it can be extremely frustrating.
With over 300,000 “Internet Home Business” related searches on the internet every month, it’s safe to say that there is a lot of demand for information on how to make money on the internet. Sadly, this also means that there are a lot of shady characters preying on this group of people.
I knew someone who fell for one of these scams once – they taught him how to make money online, and then all he did was sell seminars – on how to make money online. The fact that he had never actually made any money online wasbeside the point… I guess. Not surprisingly, I’m not a big supporter of his business.
Here are my Top 10 Businesses I think You Can Start in 2012:::
1. Internet Business Idea #1: Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate Marketing involves promoting other peoples’ products and receiving a commission per sale. The commission is typically around 50% for digital products and it is a hassle free way to start online as you don’t need to stock products, process payments or ship anything. If this sounds like your type of business and you need help getting started I recommend signing up at Clickbank.
Successful affiliate marketing is dependent entirely on creating and building this relationship with individuals. A network of blogs, email lists, forums and social media can provide an easy platform to enter the fray.
You will have to find and define a niche to work in – it’s no good promoting anything to everyone. If I signed up to your mailing list on selling cars, I wouldn’t necessarily be expecting gardening tips.
2. Internet Home Business Idea #2: Blogging
If there was one thing that was hyped about too much on the net it would be blogging. Everyone’s talking about it. The trouble is, many people are trying to make a living out of it and failing miserably. Try this for a business model – “I’m going to write some posts about a topic. Subscribers will come and then I’ll be able to charge for advertising.”
The business model will never get off the ground and will struggle to be sustainable. But there are repeated success stories of people who have “made it” blogging. They’re definitely the minority, but people like Darren Rowse and Yaro Starak (both Australians – coincidence?) spend most of their time tutoring bloggers how to turn their blogs into a business.
If you’ve got a topic which you enjoy, an audience which loves and interacts with you and a comfortable, sustainable income – blogging is going to be a 9-till-5 liberator and a fun one at that. Getting there however is a nightmare in a web full of rehashed and mis-guided advice. If you’re going to do it, do it the right way.
3. Internet Home Business Idea #3: Create a Membership Site
Membership sites have a fantastic business model. Find a topic which you know lots about or a product or service that plenty of people will pay to know about or use, charge subscription fees, keep the number of new members coming in higher than members going out and voila!
A well co-ordinated membership site launch can rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars with dozens of affiliate partners, joint ventures and email promotions. But that kind of payout doesn’t come instantly, oh no…
Membership sites will have the biggest workload and perhaps the most frustrating time as other business models (blogs, eBay, freelancers…) are able to cash in on their efforts much quicker. If you persevere, membership sites can be a fantastic money maker.
4. Internet Home Business Idea #4: Website Flipping
‘Flipping’ comes from the real estate industry where people would buy houses, do them up and ‘flip’ them for a profit. Online real estate is a newly traded commodity, although highly lucrative – some websites sell for millions.
The concept is simple. Add value.
If you can increase a websites search engine rankings and visitors, the active subscriber base, the monthly income etc, this represents value in the future (for example the monthly income a website will make over the next year).
This value is what people will buy – and you get to cash in on that value straight away.
You can spend this money and your time turning around web properties and make a handsome sum – if you know what you’re doing. Web flipping can go horribly wrong (just like in real estate) particularly when you start dealing with more and/or higher value assets.

5. Internet Home Business Idea #5: Freelance Jobs
If you’ve got an ounce of skill, talent or time you can monetize it by freelancing. ‘Freelancing’ is where you will do ‘odd-jobs’ for others without coming under mid-to-long term employment. Examples of popular online freelancing industries include graphic design, web design, voiceover professionals and article writers – although nearly anything can be ‘freelanced’ online.
Getting into the right networks and building a credible reputation on those networks is your foothold to success. However, the day you stop working is the day money stops rolling in. It does remain an attractive way to enter the online marketplace.
6. Internet Home Business Idea #6: Build an Online Store
Creating an online store to sell goods is said by some to be one of the most profitable means of trading online. Companies such as Amazon thrive off consumer demands for tangible and digital goods. However…
The business model is dependent on lots of shoppers visiting your store, and issues regarding the automation and systemization of the entire process from handling stock to customer service can become more and more manic as traffic grows.
Typically, you’ll end up spending lots of advertising campaigns through Google Adwords for example – but this may make sense. It is a logical extension to a successful high-street shop to enter the market.
7. Internet Home Business Idea #7: Create your own digital product.
Creating your own digital product is one of the most solid ways to earn a good income online. Many people are put off this as they believe that they lack the skills to create their own product or feel that the amount of work involved is too much. However, it is not as difficult as you think it is and with the right training anyone with basic computer skills can do this.
8. Internet Home Business Idea #8: Social Media Consultant
With the ever rising of the social media era and the giant social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and You tube, businesses have been taking advantage of this to gain more exposure for their brands and products. With more than 800 million active users in Facebook alone, business promotion in this top social networking site is now a priority for business owners and marketers. If you have the social media marketing skills that can outsource likes and follows for your client’s business, then this business can help you earn cold cash on the Internet.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is a growing area for Internet-based employment. SEO is a means of improving the results from a search engine so that they represent the closest matches and most reliable resources for the user’s desired results.
As a contract SEO reviewer, working through a company likeLeapforce, you can aid in this optimization. You start each evaluation task by judging a user’s intent based on the key word combinations provided and your own knowledge of popular culture in the user’s locale. Then, you use a set of given guidelines to evaluate how particular search results match that user’s intent.
SEO reviewing can offer a steady income from home, but there are some risks. First, an SEO reviewer has to run reliable antivirus software and have a good, strong defense against malware. That’s because viewing certain Web sites during evaluation tasks could introduce malware to the computer. Second, an SEO reviewer must be willing to view potentially offensive material, such as pornography. As a reviewer, you may be asked to check whether a given site contains malware or pornography, so you’re putting your computer at risk as part of the job description.
10. Internet Home Business Idea #10: Web design
As for me this is my major source of income right now. I freelance through Kelvin Wealth Media. I must say there is a lot to learn and a lot of money to be earned also.
If you are good at web designing you should try to publish it online . It not only make you money but you can meet some of the great mind online . There are several websites which offers tasks for freelancers .
